6.7.1 Contentions

Elections in Imperian takes place when someone who does not hold a particular position (such as Guildmaster or Mukhtar/Caliph) decides that he or she wants to challenge someone currently in that position. Of course, the person being challenged must be in the same guild or city (whichever is relevant) to the person doing the challenging. The commands to involve oneself in elections are CONTEST and RUN (syntax for these is explained below).

In order to begin an election, only one challenger is needed.

NOTE: During an election for a leadership position, voting members of the organization may not be removed by the existing leadership for any reason. If a legitimate reason exists for their removal, and that removal cannot wait until after the election, an ISSUE must be filed against the person the organization wishes to remove.

Commands:
---------
CONTEST <person> AS <position> OF <city or guild name>
CONTEST <person> AS HEAD OF <clan>

- Challenge someone for a position of power. For instance:
CONTEST ODYSSUES AS MUKHTAR OF ANTIOCH
CONTEST CZEVAK AS GUILDMASTER OF REVENANTS

- This will create an initial contention for the position. Other future candidates will be required to use RUN to participate in this election.

- If a position of power is currently empty, (there are only four Mukhtars in Antioch, instead of the necessary five) you may use the keyword EMPTY to begin an election. IE:
CONTEST EMPTY AS MUKHTAR OF ANTIOCH

- You must be at least guild level 3 in your guild to contest a guildmaster. Characters under GR 3 may contest if the GM has been flagged inactive.

- Costs 10,000 gold to contest.

RUN IN <election number> FOR <position> OF <city or guild name>
RUN IN <election number> FOR HEAD OF <clan>

- Put your name into a contention/election that already exists. For instance:
RUN IN 41340 FOR MUKHTAR OF ANTIOCH

- All requirements are the same as for using CONTEST

ELECTION <#> REMOVE <name>

- Remove yourself from an election.
