16.9.6 The History of the Muamrite Race

Before the Age of Awakening, humans stood as the sole inhabitants of western Aetherius. However, the cataclysmic shattering of the moons unleashed the potent force of Diachaim upon the lands. This surge of energy birthed new races in an instant, while others underwent a more gradual metamorphosis. Among the latter were the muamrites.

In the year 310 AA, a band of pacifist humans faced the wrath of the Noctusari in Stavenn. Exiled and abandoned in the unforgiving desert, they grappled with the harsh realities of exposure, predatory desert creatures, and the relentless thirst. Within two days, their numbers dwindled drastically. Yet, on the brink of extinction, the remnants of this group stumbled upon a life-saving oasis.

Embracing their new environment, these survivors, under the leadership of Gelor Antioch, laid the foundations for the desert city of Antioch. As years passed, the sun's relentless rays darkened their skin, a testament to their adaptation. The birth of Gelor's son, Muam, marked a significant turning point. Born with jet-black skin, Muam was soon followed by a generation of newborns bearing varying shades of darkened skin. The Antiochians revered these children as divine blessings, believing the gods had granted their lineage protection against the sun's intensity.

These sun-blessed individuals came to be known as muamrites, in honor of Muam, the first of their kind. Typically more compact and slightly smaller than the average human, the muamrites developed unparalleled agility, mastering the art of swift strikes to hunt the elusive desert prey during Antioch's early days.

From their modest origins in the desert's embrace, the muamrites have since spread their influence far and wide. Today, they are an integral part of Aetherius, contributing to every city, guild, and facet of the realm.
