9.2 Professions

Professions are where characters will learn the majority of their skills. A profession consists of three separate skillsets. Each skillset contains many individual skills.

You can see what professions you know and your current ranks in those professions with the PROFESSIONS command.

Characters are able to learn a profession in one of two ways.

1. Learn a profession from a dean. (HELP DEANS)
2. Become the apprentice of a player who has the profession rank of Master.

The easiest way to learn a new profession is to join a new guild. You can join a guild via a guild leader or through Cerise (HELP CERISE).

Once you have earned a profession, you can begin learning within those skillsets. However, should you switch to a different profession, you will temporarily forget all the skills you have learned. If you wish to use the skills from any of your other professions, you must first switch back to the profession and relearn those skills. Relearning does not use up your lessons, but just takes a little time.

If you no longer wish to know a profession you can FORGET <profession>. When you forget a profession you will receive either 50%, 90%, or 100% of your lessons back from those skillsets, depending on your rank in that profession. If you wish to switch to a different circle of professions, you will have to forget all learned professions before joining a guild or being apprenticed into another circle.
