Bardic Wares Law Update

Written by: Laureate Priest of Quadrivium, Kyar Kith'Vahni, Renewed Soul

This is to clarify updated bardic policy on bard goods.

First, Several sketches in particular are deemed "illegal" by bards.
Drelith, Highland Bull, Sengir, and a Cave Troll are all illegal for
sale.
Any Sketch of a player is deemed Illegal.
Any Sketch bearing Gold Ink, or Purple Ink is illegal.

Bards may possess these and use them at any time. Other classes will
not. However, at the moment other classes are -not- held responsible for
the use of illegal sketches. This may change in the future, if abused by
other classes.

The bard guild will buy back illegal sketches for a fair price, as
determined by an internal pricelist. For information, contact a
secretary. If you sell back a sketch, you will be asked to report who
sold it to you. In general, you will make a profit in this venture, but
it will depend on the amount you paid.

The Thespian songs of Awakening and Battlemarch are not available to the
general public. All other Thespian songs may be sold at the discretion
of a bard.

A City or Council member may give illegal songs to their city/council
mates songs during raids of their city/council. This action is expected
to end within one imperian day of the end of raids, or the bard will be
held accountable.

Secretaries or the Guildmaster may override this for specific instances,
if requested. Bards know the laws on this in particular.

Lastly, Assassins on contract are not to use sketches, or seek bard
songs to slay a bard. We will not, in general, enemy a Assassin for
completing a contract, but if they deliberately utilize bard skills to
kill a bard, they will on first offence, be banned from recieving all
bardic goods for one year, and on second offence be enemied to the guild
and fined 5k, cumlative with each offense, plus six months enemy status.
While enemied, time is not subtracted from the nosale list.

Example: Assassin A uses -ANY- legal bardic skill or ability to complete
contract A.
They are placed on the nosale list for one year. We will say this began
on Lentium 256.
On the month of Fas, 256, they use a legal sketch on a bard. They are
now enemied until Bellum 256. At that month, they are still on no sale
for another 8 months.

If they commit another crime in any of those period(s) after the second
offense, they will be enemied for 6 months more, and have 1 year added
to their nosale time.

This is to protect the rights of bards not to be attacked with their own
skills, and to still respect the rights of Assassins in acting in
accordance with their profession. If a Assassin kills a bard under
contract, unless it is for purely defensive purposes (an example of this
special case would be bards being killed by assassins in the bard guild
hall, or repeatitively by the same assassins; In such cases enemy status
would be a necessity, and would be lifted once the contracts were
considered through with by the bard guild, with no fine nor residual
effects) the person whom hired them will be held accountable, and the
assassin would be left alone. If an Assassin respects the guild hall,
and a bard's skills, we will try to be fair and respect their
profession.

Groups considered "Hostile" to bards will not recieve bardic goods
usable in attacks. This includes songs, portraits, and sketches. They
will still be able to gain access to journals and letters, at any given
bard's discretion.

Finally, Noctu and Wytchen may or may not fall under "Hostile," So
please do not be offended at being asked for a current member of your
city or council to confirm your current alliances.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
