Hello everyone, this is a post, not from my guild's representatives, but
from a little-known mute named Syren. I'm making this post because,
being an avid student of the Bardic abilities and spending most of my
life in silence, I have had much time to think and many founts of
knowledge to help me.
Many say that the Bardic abilities are magick, especially our friends in
Antioch, but this is not entirely so. Yes, many of our abilities are
based in Magick, many skills in Artistry and in Thespia are of a
magickal origin.
But that does not mean that all that a Bard knows is magick. We employ
the Voice, with or without the aide of instruments. The Voice is but
remnants of the Song of Creation, small parts of that beautiful work
that created all that you and I know.
The Voice and the binding songs, like Flight, aren't exactly granted to
us, that's why we aren't Clerics. Our meager knowledge of the Song of
Creation is the simple knowledge of the truth behind reality, and our
ability to make miniscule changes. Like the Gods, but....ant-like. It
isn't Magick, it's simply what the world is. It's the most natural thing
that could ever possible be, what created nature in its beginnings. The
pure power and beauty of it is what lets me speak where no other sound
can be formed by my voice, the Voice works for me purely through Divine
will. We as a guild of laughter and tales of the world want nothing more
than to showcase the beauty of all Creation, in as many ways as we can.
All the skills I know of that are of the Voice, aren't magick. Some
think the binding songs are, but all that the instruments do is change
the tune, our Voice is still the key.
Thank you, anyone who is interested and willing to listen of a humble
Bardic apprentice, and to anyone who would like to speak to me about
this on a personal basis....please, bring something to write on. I'm not
very talkative. And thank you Song for funding this little rant.
