A Journey

Oh, how I wish this were only a tunnel.
Something simple and easily traversed,
My destination marked by the light from the end.
Confined by the safety of four surrounding barriers.

My journey, like many journeys
Does not conform to such idealistic conditions.
I do not see this ending light.
Such a walled passage does not guide my path.

My journey, my great adventure,
Shall lead me through hostile, confusing, disparring terrain.
I will find many times when i shall not even know myself.
I will never be able to rest.

My life has chosen a cruel fate for me.
I dispise that which I must do.
I curse myself for my wants.
For I know I shall never find the end.

I am cursed with this affliction.
It was not given by venom nor magick.
Because of it, I rip apart myself.
I will be destroyed by this quest.

I seek riches which I know I cannot attain.
And the price will be greater than my mind can handle
I hate this
Why me? Why this fate?

It is the god's treasure I seek.
The power which will come with it...
I would become a god myself.
I could become immortal.

This is to be my life.
Dalliden, the Unwise

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Artificium, in the year 402 AD.
