Pit of Golgotha

Judging by a good deal of forum activity on the topic, the Pit of
Golgotha was apparently prone to abuse. I use the term 'abuse' here
lightly, for lack of a better term.

I chose to define this abuse as the ability to effectively and
consistently remove a large group of players from combat for a length of
time. The most important part of this was simply the large group that a
single player could cause to easily disperse.

In light of this, I've made a few changes that makes the Pit of Golgotha
remain a viable battle tactic, but does not have the same ability to be
used unfairly.

- You can no longer summon Golgotha while flying. (This is more
of a bug fix, as it was far too easy for a Noctusari to fly
above the room being targetted, and drop a Pit while remaining
fairly safe.)

- When a Noctusari summons the Pit of Golgotha, there will be
a short delay from the beginning of the summon until the Pit
is actually placed in the room. If the Noctusari does anything
during this time, the summoning is ruined. Affecting the Noctu
with things like web or paralysis will -not- stop the summon.
Moving the Noctu out of the room should stop the summon.

- There is a limit on the number of people the Pit will draw into
it until it closes. If other Noctusari SUMMON GOLGOTHA while the
initial summoning is active (and the Pit has not yet appeared),
the number of people the Pit will draw into it will also increase.
Therefore, a group of Noctusari will be able to disperse a large
group of enemies. A single Noctusari will not be able to disperse
as large a group.

- The Pit is far more difficult to escape from. Some instant (or
delayed instant) travel abilities will not work from the Pit.
You will have to walk and try to find the exit.

- The strength of the Pit's denizens have been slightly increased.
You'll have to run fast to get out. The Pit was never really
intended to serve as a hunting ground. While for many high-level
players it will remain a bashing ground, this change (along with
the change directly above), will make the Pit more of a deathtrap
for the smaller groups of players that are summoned in it (as
opposed to entertaining the 20 or so people that could be
summoned into it nearly instantly).

- If the initial summoner of the Pit is killed, the Pit will close
itself.

As an unrelated change, I've given those with the Noctusari and
Malignists classes the ability to speak Hanyou, the demon tongue. You
will be able to speak this until you change your class, unless you have
learned the ability to speak the language from a tutor.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Ferinus, in the year 455 AD.

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021
