Mahogany god

There he stood
The mahogany god
Who fell to earth
To bless us all with his kindness

But
There were those who hated him
There were those couldn't see or know
There were those who thought themselves better

And so the mahogany god was forced
Forced to drink different water
Forced eat different food
Forced to suffered injustice

But
He pressed on with a smile on his face
He pressed on with unbendable will
He pressed on with a heart still light

And so the mahogany god was tied
Tied to a post
Tied so he would endure the lash
Tied to the land which he toiled honestly

But
The mahogany god had unbendable will

But
The mahogany god was of the flesh

And
The mahogany god was of the bone

Even though they could not shatter his will
They shattered his body instead

He bared himself to it all
Until there were enough pieces of him
For everyone to have and learn from
So we can have smiles on our faces

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Naturalis, in the year 426 AD.
