Iriaen,

You are a fool, a charismatic fool without a doubt, but a fool none the
less.

Yes, the mortal races change. Change is an inherent part of the natural
world. Life cannot exist when there is no change. Compare say a rock
which is non-living, non-thinking being to a mortal. Every breath you
take is change. Yet the part in which you claim that from change that
mortals will grow stronger seems to be half the picture. Every breath I
take strengthens me, but at the same time it puts me that much closer to
my own demise. Its a compromise that people grudgingly accept. Every
change leads to growth, but at the same time it will always have its
drawbacks as well.

You claim in this second mutation, that mortals will move closer to
magick and away from the Gods. For this, I can do naught but label you a
Blasphemer and a Heretic and an enemy to the guild of Clerics. Those who
deny the power of the Gods and encourage any to move away from their
glory is little better than speck of dust in a sandstorm.

That magick that you seem to love so much is nothing more than stealing
from the Gods. I know for example, that Necromancers get their power by
stealing it from the realm of Lord Thanatos. There is no reverence
there, no desire to understand the realm of Lord Thanatos beyond more
than simply grabbing at the power like greedy children after cookies.
While I specify Necromancy, understand that it is just an example and
that for the most part, I find all magick fairly equally distasteful.
Yet compare the arts of Bonding or Devotion. Beseeching the Gods for
their powers, understanding their place in the order of things within
Aetherius. That is what true understanding is. The use of magick is a
void; empty of the beauty of living a life devoted to the Gods.

I challenge all of you to forgo the taint of magick. Embrace the
completeness that is a life devoted to honoring the Gods. I do not
believe that everyone should become Clerics but instead that they should
explore the paths of their lives free of magick's corruption. Find your
own way to serve the Divine, but do not do so by trying to find ways to
justify your thefts and heresies. You do yourself nor the Gods no honor
through your acts.

May the Gods watch over you all (even the heretics too I suppose),
Selthis

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
