A sad state of affairs

Advisors of Celidon,

During the most recent Capture the Flag event, an unlikely occurrence
came about. The Celidon Council allied with Stavenn against the rest of
the competition. Now, I have no problem with alliances, they are a
natural occurrence in games with multiple teams, and in fact Antioch
allied with Kinsarmar in some form or fashion. I would not know for
sure, as I had as little to do with the alliance as possible.

What I do find strange however, is Celidon's desire to ally with Stavenn
at all. The city that has marched countless armies and summoned
countless demons. Stavenn has never had any concern for the Wilds, and
in fact houses the only the two main guilds who are likely to destroy
the forest. Yet allying with them was decided to be a prudent move. Yes,
you may have gotten some stone and some wood, would what you have lost
is so much more.

I used to have a great deal of respect for the Forestal councils,
regardless of how I viewed their pricing strategies. You'll notice used
to being the key bit of that first sentence, this is a sentiment I have
heard echoed by several others lately as well. Last month one council
stayed true to what it was, and the other has shown its true colors.
Anything to win, even to the extent of allying with your most likely
enemies in the future. I applaud Khandava's dedication to their ideals
in the face of a shiny prize. I can only hope the leadership of Celidon
takes note of such standards in the future.

Remember this, the next time demons from the northern Rift enter the
forest and attack Phoenix Crest. Remember this the next time Stavenn
marches an army through your woods, wantonly slaying game and felling
trees to feed its massive camps. Remember this and know that you've
supported these actions at least indirectly.

I will point out that this post is in no way directed to certain
citizens of Celidon, beyond the leadership. I understand that most of
them fought believing they were fighting for Celidon and not to support
Stavenn as well. The same cannot be said of the leadership, who agreed
to split the winnings.

However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
