Demons and their Summoners

I come before you to today to speak to you all of a simple truth. Demons
and by association, those who seek to control them, cannot be trusted.
Sadly enough, Kinsarmar learned this lesson the hard way. While I shake
my head at whatever logic it was that would spur the council of
Kinsarmar to think for even a moment that demons within the city was
acceptable, I will stand beside them to protect them from that threat as
is my duty as a Cleric. And I am gladdened by their swift and decisive
action once the extent of the treachery was realized. It shows an
acceptance of the truth of the nature of the demon kind, and an
unwillingness to accept that legacy of treachery within their walls.

I encourage all cities to examine their citizens. Do you have demon
summoners within your city? Do you see how quickly those same people
turned on the city? It's a bitter pill to swallow, to accept that some
people by virtue of what they embrace, cannot be trusted. Accepting that
when you compromise and lay down with a demon, if even only for a
minute, you are likely to get exactly what that implies is hard. The
desire to see the good in all people is overwhelming at times. I often
find myself thinking "well maybe this one Noctusari is not as terrible
as I once thought", yet I see now it is folly. To trust those who strive
solely for themselves, with no thought at all for others will lead to
nothing but a knife in your back and a deep seated bitterness within
your heart.

I am not saying that my words should be taken as gospel. Every mortal
must make their own decision. But do so rationally, free from biases
from the past and the present. Understand that history of treachery that
all demon summoners have left behind is nothing less than the very point
of their blade. The full length of said blade has not been exposed as of
yet, and I can assure you it is of a fearsome length indeed.

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
