Wardens and the Year of Rest

The Wardens will be leaving the observation of the Year of Rest to the
individual Warden this year. While the need for the land to recover is
indeed a fair cause, keep in mind it is not the Wardens who stress the
land. Our limits on harvesting are set low enough to provide for self
sufficiency, but no further.

While indeed, we had originally intended to follow the tradition, the
message I received from the Arboreal Guildmistress, Caitlin chafed me a
bit. While one year in every ten is not over much to ask for Nature to
replenish itself, it puts us in an odd position. Do you punish all
children because one took an extra piece of candy? What if some of those
children were incapable of taking extra candy than what they needed? The
implication was that the Wardens were a part of the problem, when as
those with much common sense can tell you that our harvesting rules are
the easiest solution by far.
