Of fates and magic

Written by: Lidara S'Sylistha

Addressed to: Everyone

Some will insist that our lives are clay
Left to be shaped by our very clumsy hands
Into the vision seen by mortal eyes
Within mundane constraints of mortal lands

Some will insist that Moons are merely rocks
And magic just a dangerous yet useful toy
Some will maintain that they have full control
Of love, life, destiny, their path and joy.

From these sad fools I turn away, and gaze
As Moradeim's light burns the darkened sky
As Sukhder's cruel visage sends terror through the land
Deciding how I'll live, and how I'll die.

Some will indulge in mortal, simple life
And speak of "lovers", "friends", and "home"
As those few virtues that are sought by all
Rejecting thought of happiness alone

Those people - fools and wisemen both -
Depend on mortals to support their life
To lend them strength, and care.. whatnot...
To guard them from all danger, death, and strife.

Yet those whose brow the Moons have clearly marked
No longer walk the sunny mortal lands
For our souls are cast among the stars
To birth the flame of Magick in our veins.

My soul is bound to such a path.
Denied the simple cares of warmth and love
Yet never missing what was never known
Supported by the Moons that glow above

And some will cry, and teary comforts give
Say little nothings or some hopeful lie
They do not know I fear not what they fear
What gives them joy can only make me cry.

They do not know the ecstasy I feel
When Magick wildly courses through my blood
It lifts me up above the cares of earth
It drowns me in a raging, all-enduring flood!

A lover's kiss, the early blooms of spring -
The warmth of fire on a chilly night -
A dear friend's hug, a loving mother's words -
A child's young love, and shimmering, purest light -

All these small joys which are, it seems, denied
All those as I who walk the magick world
Know in the rush of energy and strength
In roaring torrents of a power untold.

So do not pity us, who by the Moons were marked
To stand apart and share not of your joys
A stronger fire burns within our hearts
And your bright world to us is but a toy.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Vita, in the year 403 AD.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
