Remember

His eyes gleamed bright like his smile; the sun,
as he twirled me, whirled me through the air.

I don't understand why father told him to go,
when he could have gone--and lived.
Father knew the path better

Jaruak'n went out into the sand confident, but
as night fell, so did he.
I dreamt it that night.
I remember what his face looked like
as the sand filled his boots
and dulled his smile,
as the wind covered his carcass
and his hair waved goodbye.

Father came and comforted me.
He said, "It's just a dream," and
I almost believed him as I curled back to sleep.

But now where is my brother?
Where is Jaruak'n?
He is as I dreamed that night, and
I am here alone.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Fas, in the year 468 AD.
