The Lion and the Shrew - Mr shrew strikes again!)

There once was a lion, a king in the fur
He paced about the land, a lord of jungle, forest, and all that were
"I am looking for a challenge!" he roared unto the world as one
Booming voice reaching all corners and so he waited under the noon-day
sun

Disturbed in his den a fox did peek "Not today, good sir! I'm trying to
sleep!

A mother goose shook her head, refusal bleated by the sheep

The Eagle still nursing his wounds turned up his beak

The Ibex snorted and stood on his peak

And so the Lion waited...


Darkness fell and the morning broke
With a throaty yawn our king awoke
Through bleary eyes he spotted a shape
It was for true a massive ape!

"pray tell, have you come for me?" scoffed the lion
With a little shake the visitor declined "Nay it is he!"
Out of the way the great monkey stepped leaving the challenger in view
Who do you think it was? By gods it was a shrew!


And so this story is to be short, and continued another day
I will win this poetry duel each and every way
Put up your swords, your quill, your paws or your wit
There will be poetry bloodshed and will I lose? not a bit!
Come ye dwarf and come ye fox, I will take you with ease
And so this installment of my song is all done so I ask you
Take your turn, pretty pretty please!
