A howl came forth from the Ithaquan Pines this Ferinus, 555 AD, as Danir
Brynja, son of Sigurd, returned home from a mission given to him decades
before. Under the belief that he had accomplished this mission through
his unwavering devotion, Danir had proclaimed that it was his right to
take his father's place within the Idras as he was promised.
Sigurd, however, had a very different belief. Proclaiming to those
gathered at the Junction that the boy had failed in his mission, thus
deserved nothing. The two became embroiled in a fierce, verbal battle
before Sigurd took his leave to the sanctuary. After sharing a portion
of his tale, Danir sought out Sigurd to finally end this, nearly calling
to him under the terms of the Iron Code, yet at the insistence of
Feyn-al-Dracar Zarim S'Sylistha, he stood aside. As he did, Sigurd
retold the tale to all present - the Feyn, Wildgraf Selthis, Dylandil
Agarwaen, Execuot, Averu Savenn, Alarick Agarwaen - of Danir's failure.
In the early years, the Ravenguard was formed for forays into the woods
for things the village needed, however, during one of the deep winters
they were unable to find food for many weeks. They took their blades to
the villagers - murdering and raping many, consuming what they could.
Fenrir condemned them, and the Wendigo cursed them, sending them to the
Gyanis to repent for their deeds. Sigurd had selected a handful of
Idras, he explained to them, and Danir was one that was told to hunt
down a man that had escaped the caverns and execute him.
Danir had gone, as he was told. Yet when he reached these Barrows, he
was forced into a cell and condemned to repent as though he was one of
the prisoners. Once he had the chance, he escaped and employed Broderick
Bonecaster to continue on with his search. But there was nothing to be
found.
After searching for years, Broderick came upon En'Aruna and settled
there after the last attack on the towne, yet Danir continued his search
with renewed perseverance. Years later, Danir finally gave up all hope
and returned to Ithaqua with the aforementioned claim to Sigurd's
position. Once hearing the tale, the Feyn and present Idras found Danir
a place within the Sanctuary to assist in their training - far from his
father.
