Early in the year 542 a Nagiri Archer made his way to Stavenn upon
orders of his master, travelling halfway across the continent with a
message. After asking for ritualists to gather at the gates to speak
with him Mykael Artan, the Imperator at the time came to speak with him.
After little debate the archer agreed to take them with him to see his
master, Naugon, a necromancer within the Nagiri Caverns.
After travelling to the caverns, the Stavennites gathered there learned
of the purpose to which they were gathered. For many years Naugon had
done small rituals, attempting to summon a demon of power which he could
control and let loose upon the lands. His experiments had most often
times been failures, the most notable the one that transformed the
Nagiri into their present forms. He outlined a basic ritual which, if
successful, could summon an overwhelmingly large demon into this world,
and would give him minor control over it.
Following much consideration Stavenn eventually agreed to help Naugon in
this endeavor and they begin to gather the items that were needed. The
items included things such as candles and daggers, a bucket of blood,
and a corpse. The bucket had been held by the archer Naugon sent to
Stavenn, and was lost on the way, thus a rush to find it located it near
Stavenn, mysteriously buried. The other items were easily obtained by
those who knew ritualistic shops throughout Aetherius.
And so the preparations began. Valafar Hlomaren and Leisane Valstivar
both began lengthy preparations, making the room into a ritual chamber
prepared for the ritual at any time. After deciding upon two days of
preparations, Naugon observed while the Stavennites did what they needed
to. As always a large gathering of Stavennites attracted the attention
of Antioch and they sent out fighters to quickly decimate the group,
leaving Naugon alone and wondering.
Two days past with little contact between the necromancer and the
Stavennites who aided him, and when it was finally time for the ritual,
multiple groups were dispatched from their home. They needed a
distraction, thus a group of fighters was sent to keep the attention of
Antioch while a smaller group met with Naugon, the ritual in hand and
perfected. As the ritual began dark whisperings plagued those within the
caverns as the dark energies of Naugon were once again summoned, the
Nagirians fled briefly, so as not to feel the destructive power that he
was preparing to unleash.
The ritual was effective, a rift being opened to allow an overwhelmingly
large demon through, though the control that he was supposed to have did
not immediately take hold of the demon. Stavennites died and they became
angry at Naugon, but he quickly gained control, pushing the demon from
his dwelling and willing it toward the desert. The demon began wreaking
havoc throughout Antioch, looking for food and killing any and all in
its path. Antioch quickly responded only to have their first few attacks
stop quickly. After many deaths Kliko Ashtear and Adanedhel Askare with
the help of Kodo Ashtear quickly dispatched the demon, driving him from
this reality.
A month later, Naugon contacted Ihsan Nessaja, telling him to come to
him immediately. There he revealed to Ihsan that the ritual had opened a
gateway, a gateway through which the demon may once again be summoned.
He explained that while the demon would return, there would be no
controlling him and he would not be as strong, as his death had made him
weaker.
