Mairya's Tears

Curious about the recent emergence of many roots, Renbeldon, a gold bear
close to Lady Epiphany, decided to investigate them for himself today.
Discovering one in the Sienna forest, he set about examining it, and
after a time was discovered as Rythanis made his rounds to see if there
was aught he could do. After a little discussion, Rythanis suggested to
many people that they should come and find himself and Renbeldon, so
that the bear's idea might be tried. Declaring that the roots still had
a connection to the dryad Mairya, he asked those present to gather many
flowers to place around it, to fill the grove with Life. Many proceed to
do so, and soon a dazzling array of flowers was scattered about,
gathered from all corners of the world. Concentrating, Renbeldon laid
his paws upon the root, invoking the powers of Life and willing them to
reach Mairya.

When he withdrew his paws, in one he revealed a tiny tear, preserved in
amber, which had been shed by Mairya and brought to him through the root
itself. Explaining that gathering these would help strengthen and heal
the dryad, perhaps saving both her and her tree, Renbeldon was
concerned about their protection. Quietly watching until he could make
himself useful, Rythanis summoned a golem forth from the earth,
empowered by Life and formed from many smaller roots. In order for them
to be protected, he gifted one to each city and council, sending them
there that they may given the tears, which were, it was explained,
brought forth from the roots when enough essence was given to Mairya by
placing the beast corpses into them.

Shortly after hearing of the recent events, a young lad named Kristopher
Sedgewick saw the opportunity to cash in, offering to exchange any tears
he was given for gold. Enterprising, if not noble, he took up a
temporary residence in the great Library of Caanae, where anyone wishing
to earn gold can reach him. What use he may have for them is so far
unknown, but for now he, as well as the golems, are accepting any of the
amber teardrops given to them. Whether or not they can save the life of
the dryad remains to be seen, but the race has already begun in earnest
to generate and collect the tears...

However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
