A nest of serpents

This month, the city of Kinsarmar experienced an infestation of serpents
which seemed to have emerged from the sewers. It started with a loud
hissing drifting across the continent as one huge serpent appeared in
the center of the city, apparently a much larger, older version of those
normally found in the sewers. After a few minutes, several more showed
up and proceeded to hunt for food. The general alert was given by
Kildare, who took charge and formed a small group to clear out the
giant, scaled menaces.

It was quiet for a while, the citizens and visitors of Kinsarmar wary of
any further serpentine intruders. Just when it seemed to be safe, a
swarm of tiny, vicious snakes followed their larger cousins into the
streets of the city. These, however, seemed to have poisonous fangs and
gave a slew of random afflictions. The initial encounter with these
deadlier serpents prompted the small group of defenders to take a few
moments and think about their strategy, while attempting to warn any who
wandered in of the danger.

A larger group was formed, with Skye and Kildare directing their actions
and a few heavy-hitters like Luthyr, Iriaen and Kierkan adding their
might into the fray. Despite the number of the little pests, they
eventually killed them all. Among the first who died to the scaly
invasion were Kytal and Sorat, with Lyrith giving assistance in scouting
and healing.

This explosion of serpents adds a question on the minds of the
Kinsarmarans. Where did they come from? Some ideas were mentioned,
hybrids and advanced evolution of those in the sewers the foremost
discussed, as they do seem natural in origin. Perhaps this was a direct
result from the raise in recent population in the sewers themselves.
