BLOODLINES

Lots fixes and enhancements to the bloodline code. You may like some,
you may not like some. Some of it can be rather confusing, I have tried
to be as clear as possible. The clean up may have screwed up some
bloodline relations. If there is a problem, please email me at
avasyu@imperian.com and describe your problem.

- HELP FAMILIES has been combined with HELP BLOODLINES. There are
several new commands you will want to see.

- I cleaned up a lot of players and their bloodlines. Many players were
in lines that it was just not possible to be in.

- Players can no longer buy bloodlines. We may open them for purchase in
the future, but for now we will strictly be rewarding them to players
for various reasons.

- You will always be in the bloodline clans of your father and mother.

- Whatever your current surname is, it is set in stone. Even if your
parents change names, or your spouse's parents change names, your last
name will not change.

- A parent name change will cascade all the way down the bloodline tree.
It will affect children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and so on.
This means, certain marriages and adoptions can greatly increase
membership in a bloodline.

- As such, some bloodlines are going to be much bigger. If you do not
want certain people in your bloodline clan, then BLOODLINE CASTOUT
<player>.

- If a parent changes names, your bloodline clan membership will
change. UNLESS you are currently using that surname. In that case, you
will just be added to the new bloodline clan.

- In summary, it is only possible to be in 4 bloodlines at once. A
player in 4 bloodlines will have a father's bloodline, a mother's
bloodline, a bloodline they were previously in before one of their
parents switched, and a marriage bloodline.

- You still cannot be married into another bloodline, if you are the
creator of a bloodline, do not ask.

- You can switch to your mothers or fathers surname at any time with the
SWITCH command. It is no longer a one-time deal, however there is a
50,000 registration fee.

- When you are recorded as a child, you will automatically take the
surname of the recording parents name, unless you are married to another
player. If you are married, and your spouse is using your last name,
then both of you, will change last names.

- There are still 3 marriages in which the pair do not have matching
last names, These people will be contacted and must decide which family
they will officially join.

- All the bloodline clans will now use the BLOODLINE command for their
functions, and not the CLAN command.

- CLAN LIST and CLANS will no longer list the bloodlines you are in. Use
BLOODLINE LIST or BLOODLINES to see them.

- Most commands that used the FAMILY verb will only work with the
BLOODLINE verb now.

- Removed the Birth Family channels and commands. You can now simply
switch to those channels with BLOODLINE SWITCH <id>.

- Cleaned up the messages when two players are being married.

- If you are blood brothered, you will reject any current mother or
father you have, as you are effectively in the top of the bloodline food
chain.

- If a family or clan does not have at least 5 active members, it will
not show up on HELP FAMILYLIST or HELP CLANLIST.

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Ultio, in the year 497 AD.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
