Plants, Concoctions, and Harvesting, oh my..

I have totally revamped the way plants and harvesting works. This has
been done for two reasons.

One, people play the game to use their skills and the two guilds with
concoctions are too harsh with not allowing players harvest. This is no
fault of their own, there are limited herbs and plants, and they would
quickly disappear to unknowing novices and rogues.

Two, harvesting takes forever to do and is very boring. Most players
just make triggers to do it. Why do we want a system that is boring, in
a game that should be fun? The new system will allow you to do all your
harvesting in about 5 minutes or less and not flood the market with too
many herbs. (Yes, we will be making some changes to smithing as well)

Now to explain how plants and harvesting will work.

All harvesting and plants are done on a player by player basis. Anyone
looking for plants will search a room to find them. If the plant is in
season and the environment is correct, the player will find the plant.
Player A will not find the same plants as Player B, even when searching
in the same room. Player A can harvest as much as they like from any
plants they find, and it will not effect any other player in any way.

Where are the limits you say? What will keep millions of herbs from
flooding the market? Players will only be able to harvest a certain
number of herbs per day (24 hours). That number will scale from about 50
to 1000 per day, based on your skill level in concoctions. In addition,
plants will only grow during certain times of the year. No plants will
grow in the winter months. Some plants will only grow 1 month a year,
and the rest will only grow for 5 months of the year. I will leave it to
you to discover those times.

Harvesting gloves will double the amount a player can harvest and halve
the balance used when harvesting for the owner. If the gloves are
shared, the non owner will get the balance bonus, but they will not get
the harvesting bonus.

I have added three new plants. RibWort, SpearWort, and MoonWort. All
three of these herbs are _very_ rare and only a few if any will be found
in a day. Ribwort will heal a random affliction. Spearwort will heal 2
random afflictions. Moonwort will instantly heal all afflictions. These
herbs are used up in the arena, whereas other herbs are not.

Any player can use these commands, even if they do not have the
concoction skillset. However, without the skill, they will only be able
to find olive trees and blueberry bushes.

COMMANDS
----------------

PLANTS
- This command will display any plants you have already found in a room.

PLANTS <on|off>
- This will toggle the display any plants you have previously found, in
the room description.

SEARCH FOR PLANTS
- This command will search for any plants in the room, which the player
has the ability to harvest. The plants will stay in that room for 24
hours, after which you will forget where you found them and you will
have to search again. The number of herbs/plants found is determined
by your skill level in concoctions.

SEARCH FOR <plant type>
- This command works just like above, but will search for only for a
specific plant in a room.

HARVEST <amount|all> <plant type>
- This skill will harvest a set amount of herbs or all the herbs from a
specific plant in your current room. The more herbs you harvest all at
once, the more balance it will take when you harvest them.

HARVEST ALL PLANTS
- This command will harvest all the plants you have found in the room.
The more herbs you harvest all at once, the more balance it will take
when you harvest them.

HARVEST AMOUNT
- This command will display how many herbs you have harvested in the
last 24 hours, and how many more you can harvest.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
