Etherstorms and Magick

The etherstorms have finally all been vanquished, but the entire fabric
of what you know as "magick" has been changed.

- Many magickal abilities that did not have "magickal surges" now will.
Mainly, this relates to some consistentency issues, as in some abilities
in a skillset used to not cause surges, but some abilities would. This
has all been standardised across the board.
- Abilities that used to have surges, but only in certain areas will now
have surges everywhere. The most prominent example of this is that
Necromancy will now cause surges in Ithaqua.
- Runes on your body, or on weapons you are wielding will drain your
devotion. You can scrub off a rune with SCRUB OFF <rune> provided
you have a bucket of water or are in water.
- Weapons/armour that you are wielding/wearing that have etches or
are soulquenched/soulbound will now drain devotion.
- Weapons/armour that you are wielding/wearing that are purified will
now drain essence, sanguis, and attunement.
- Blessings and the Rite of Bracing will now drain essence, sanguis,
and attunement. You can reject a blessing with REJECT BLESSING OF
<blessing>.
- Every person now has a "magickal affinity". Spending a long time
in areas that consistently cause beneficial magickal surges will
increase your affinity. Spending a long time in areas that
consistently cause destructive magickal surges will decrease your
affinity.
- Players with a high magickal affinity will regenerate more sanguis
and necromantic essence at the dawn of a new day, and Mages should
gain more attunement when they fold pearls.
- Players with a low magickal affinity will regenerate more devotion
at the dawn of a new day.
- Holding astralform/blackwind while in an anti-magick area will use
more endurance.
- Vibes in pro-magick areas will last longer. Vibes in anti-magick areas
will not last as long.
- Rites in pro-magick areas will not last as long. Rites in anti-magick
areas will last longer.

There have also been some other minor changes in relation to how magick
exists in Imperian. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll let you
figure them out on your own.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
