Universal affliction messages

Greetings!

I am pleased to announce the availability of my latest addition, on which I have been working for the past few weeks - universal affliction messages. If enabled, you will now receive a standardised message whenever you receive or cure an affliction. This means that you never again need to hunt down all the obscure messages each time an update is released.

CONFIG AFFMESSAGES ON|OFF can be used to toggle the feature on and off.

This is a much bigger code change than it may seem to be - all the existing abilities and effects that were causing afflictions had to be adjusted, and a new affliction tracking code has been introduced. All this is largely hidden from players, but, there could be bugs. Should you notice any ability not causing the affliction that it should, or some affliction not working correctly, please BUG it in the usual way.

Masked afflictions should be treated correctly as well - when you receive a masked affliction, no standardised message will be displayed initially, but you will receive the message upon the first symptom message (if the affliction has any). Diagnosing also unmasks all afflictions, but no standardised messages will be displayed in this case. Again, if any affliction is not being masked when it should, please report it.

Some afflictions have not been converted to the new system at this time - most notably, sleep and impale. These may be added at a later time.

All herb, salve, and pipe cured afflictions should be reported properly, along with most writhe afflictions and a few specialised ones - this includes limb breaks. I am aware that this affects the Mind Hallucinate ability quite significantly, and there may be alterations coming to the profession based on how big the actual impact of the change turns out to be.

This change will be soon followed by another that, while requiring less intensive coding, may have a much bigger impact on the game. I will be posting more about this at the Imperian forums today (forums.imperian.com)
