Order Dominance and Shrine Adjustments

Greetings!

I have just loaded a new feature for the Divine Orders. An Order that owns more than a half of all the shrines within an area now has dominance over that area. Any members of the Order or its Congregation will benefit from an increased regeneration of health, mana, willpower, and endurance (the latter two being higher than the former two), while located in such an area.

Example: if there are five shrines in an area and three of them belong to Baar, then Baar's order has dominance over that area. If another Order erects a new shrine in that area, then Baar's order loses dominance, as it no longer controls a majority of the shrines. If a new Baar's shrine is raised in the area, or a shrine of another God is defiled, then Baar's order once again has dominance over the area.

You can use the SURVEY command to check which Order has dominance over your current area, and Order members can use ORDER DOMINANCE to see all areas with a dominant Order presence - your own order's areas are highlighted in the list.

Any changes to the Order's dominance are also written to the Order's log.

In addition to this, the following changes have been made to the shrine system:

- Raising a shrine now costs only 1/4 of your maximum willpower instead of 1/2, and your willpower no longer needs to be at full to do so - you need to have at least 1/4 of your maximum

- Offering to DEFILE or SANCTIFY now has a balance cost, which is not affected by any racial or skill modifiers

- It is no longer possible to offer more than 5,000 gold at a time. This applies to all forms of offering

- Essence value of player corpses is now capped when used to sanctify or defile. Normal offering still grants the full essence value

- The ability to DEFILE shrines is now only available to members of Divine Orders. Congregants and those without an Order cannot defile. Sanctification of shrines can still be performed by anyone.

- All online members of an Order are now notified about ongoing defilements. The notification is only shown once per 20 seconds to prevent too much spam

- Log records about destroyed shrines now include the Order of the person who destroyed the shrine (but not the individual's name)

- Order log records now also include information about shrines destroyed by members of the Order

As always, if there are any problems with these additions, please report them in the usual way.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…
