Shop Upgrades

The shops of Aetherius have been greatly upgraded! They are more sort
able, customizable, and secure than they have ever been before. Read
below for all the juicy details.

The core of this upgrade is the addition of shelves to the stockrooms of
shops around the world. Items may no longer be priced and sold from a
stockroom floor, but instead must be put on a shelf for sale, and each
shelf will hold 50 items. However there are many advantages to this!
First, only the shop owner, or their allies if they have Shopally on,
may put anything on a shelf or remove anything from one. Second, shelves
may be named for easy sorting and categorization on WARES. The goods on
unnamed shelves will appear in the same manner as items priced on the
floor did previously. It should be noted that shelves given the same
name will be grouped on WARES for categories larger than 50 items.

Purchasing things from the shelves has also been greatly improved. The
owner (and shop allies) can check the SHOP LOG from either the shop
proper or the stockroom and get a list of the last 100 transactions
made, detailing when, what was bought, and for how much. Furthermore,
the money does not get dumped on the stockroom floor where any thief can
take it. The money is stored in a secure vault, the contents of which
can be checked with SHOP FUNDS and which can be withdrawn from via SHOP
WITHDRAW, only by the owner and shop allies, of course.

Even, so, there are more features of these wonderful shelves! You can
set a Discount and Surcharge rate on each shelf as well as permissions
for who these rates will apply to (HELP PERMISSIONS). The rates you can
set on a shelf are limited at 25%. And you can check the SHELF SUMMARY
to get the category name for all your shelves, the type of each shelf,
and an indicator of how full that shelf is.

And speaking of types of shelves, there is more than just the standard
shop shelf detailed above. Shop owners can also acquire a crafter's
shelf which, in addition to having all the features of a standard shelf,
also greatly facilitates the sale of tradeskill items. A crafter's shelf
can only hold commodities and tradeskill patterns, with the exception of
metalworking layouts. Only one capable of making the item depicted on a
pattern may put one on a crafter's shelf. The crafter's shelf will use
the commodities in the shelf to produce the items on demand when someone
purchases them!

Simply put the patterns in the shelf, price them, and add appropriate
commodities. It will show up to shoppers as if it actually were the item
the pattern makes, and when they purchase it, it will be made with the
mark of whomever shelved the pattern and using their skill rank to
determine the item's longevity. The commodities will be used right out
of the shelf. For ease of crafter's shelf management all commodities
added to the shelf are automatically grouped together to take up the
barest amount of space.

You can acquire these amazing shelves with SHOP PURCHASE
<SHELF|CRAFTSHELF>. A standard shelf will cost 50k, while the crafter's
variation will cost 250k. However, to facillitate the change for shop
owner's all shops have been given 5 free standard shelves and all priced
goods have been moved from the floor to the shelves. Furthermore, every
shop has had their gold moved to a secure vault in the store. As a note,
the permissions regarding city/council political positions (leader,
council member, and ministries) will not be functional for a day or two
as their permissions are fixed to work with our political system.

After fixing the minor issue with political-based permissions I will be
revisiting the many skill-related bugs reported since the last wave of
fixes. I will be completing them in alphabetical order this time, as
opposed to by circle. Further updates will be arriving soon! Moons'
Blessings. Aetherius.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
