Mentors and Lessons

I've made a few changes to mentors and lessons.

Mentor Changes
------------------

- Mentor credits are now distributed as bound credits.

- If both protege and mentor are in the same ring and in the same
room, the entire ring receives a 5% bonus to experience gained.
This bonus is cumulative, so if there are 4 mentor/protege pairs
in the ring, everyone in the ring and in the room receives a 20%
bonus to experience.

- Proteges can now learn up to 35 lessons at a time from their
mentor.

- The teaching bonus will be doubled when a protege is learning
from a mentor.

- Do not mentor your own characters to try to abuse the mentor
bonus. I will have no problems shrubbing anyone who mentors a
character coming from the same IP as them. Yes, that includes
having one of your friends come over to your house and create
a character for you so that you can purchase credits. The mentor
bonus exists as a small thank-you for helping someone learn about
Imperian. It doesn't exist so that you can get a free 15% bonus
every time you want to purchase credits.

Lesson Changes
------------------

- The system will now more accurately track the number of lessons
you've spent on a skill.

- You can see how many lessons you've learned in all of your skills
with the LESSONS command.

- The number of lessons shown will only be the number of lessons
you've spent on a skill by learning. Lessons will not be
increased from other things that increase skills, such as
harvesting a hive or from the Wheel tarot.

- When you forget a skill or a profession, the lessons you've
learned in all of those skills will be reset to 0. This applies
mostly to people who have mastered a profession and then move on
immediately to a profession with matching skills. You will no
longer be able to receive a profession-specific refund on your
skills twice or more.

- Each person's lesson count has been set as the current value
of their skills. The amount of lessons required to reach the
Transcendent ranking will vary slightly per person per skill,
due to rounding and the non-linear nature of skill progression.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
