5 vs 5 Team Tournament

The 5 vs 5 team tournament will be starting shortly. I'm posting some
preparatory information so that we can all work to make it run as
smoothly as possible.

At 02:00 GMT, I'm going to ask that all teams identify themselves. Each
team of 5 must have a captain. That captain must send me a tell that
includes a list of all of the people on the team. I will then respond to
that captain with a team number. Write that team number down and tell it
all of your teammates. That will be your team number for the rest of the
tournament.

We will be appropriating all 7 arenas for use during the tournament.
Arenas will not be available for other events.

The tournament will consist of an initial round-robin phase, followed by
a single elimination bracket. The results of the round-robin phase will
determine your seeding in the tournament bracket. Only 8 teams, at the
maximum, will be eligible for the tournament bracket.

Each match will occur in one of the arenas. Each match will likely have
a time-limit, but that limit will depend on the number of initial team
entries in the tournament. If, at the end of the limit, one team has not
completely defeated the other team, the team with more players remaining
wins. If both teams have the same number of players, the team that most
recently lost a player wins. If both teams have five players remaining,
the match is a draw and neither teams gets any points for the
round-robin ranking. It's in your best interest to get in there quickly
and try to do as much damage as possible.

Once the match is complete, the captains of both teams should send me a
tell to inform me that the match is complete and to tell me who won the
match. I will try my hardest to monitor the matches, but there will
likely be seven matches going on at one time, so the cooperation of the
captains is essential.

The top eight seeds at the end of the round-robin phase will be
determined by the number of wins each team has. In the case of a two-way
tie, the head-to-head matchup will determine the higher seed. In the
case of a three-way (or more) tie that affects the eighth seeding,
sudden-death elimination matches will be held prior to the start of the
single elimination bracket.

If one of your team's members has to leave before this leg of the
tournament is completed, your team has two options: You can either
choose to continue with four or fewer members, or you can tell me that
your team is done for the night. However, if only one or two teams lose
members (and all of the other teams are still ready to go), I'm going to
choose to continue with the tournament to get as many matches in as
possible. I will do my best to avoid your team, but I cannot afford to
let one or two teams that have lost a member hold up the entire
tournament for everyone else.

It multiple teams (two or more) have lost members and the time is
getting late, I will suspend the 5 vs 5 team tournament for the night,
and we will resume tomorrow where we left off. I do not anticipate that
tonight's leg of the tournament will last much more than two hours,
maybe three hours at the absolute maximum.

2021 and Beyond

Hello Imperian! Another year passes! A few months from now will mark my second year on Aetherius. Time sure flies! However, the vast majority of this wouldn’t happen without our wonderful team of volunteers. Kiandre and Valethar have been with me since last year, and are instrumental with the work they have done for the…

Onward to 2021

Hi folks! This year has been a challenge on many of us, and I can only hope the next year goes by more smoothly. Having said that, we have reached the end of 2020, woo! This was my first not-quite-a-year on Imperian, and it has been a whole learning experience. It has been a bit…
