Greetings,
Galadan has 10,000 gold sovereigns, and needs plants.
Let's see, Galadan could use 50 quince, which is priced at 70 gold per,
so it costs Galadan to pay 3500 gold for it.
Assuming noone harvested quince in, let's say, Dun Valley, each jungle
room has 50 quince in it. Due to pristine law, Concoctionists will
harvest quince from 2 rooms.
Now, let's assume quince costs 50 gold per. So, if Galadan intended to
buy 50 quince, he would pay 2500 gold. So Galadan says, "Ah, hell" and
buys another 20, for that 1000 gold difference. So concoctionists
harvests a third room. Now imagine 15 Galadans (faint). Instead of 30
rooms needed to be harvested at 70 gold per quince, it would require 42
rooms to be harvested. So no, minimum prices don't protect Nature from
overharvesting and ripping every single herb out of the land *smirk*
*sarcasm*
But then, Galadan wants to buy a toxin. No matter how many he wants to
buy, he will have to pay from around 900 to almost 2.5k, no matter if he
buys one vial or 10. Yay, and Galadan can't buy every toxin, as
Saboteurs don't actualy sell all of them, as some are ILLEGAL. Now,
let's ask Saboteurs what do they do when someone sells toxins at either
BELOW their set prices OR illegal toxins. I have no idea, as I don't
know any Saboteur.
The reason that all forgers don't have set prices is that if, say,
sabre's price was set at 2000 gold, it would cost that 2000 gold, no
matter if it had 160 speed or 220 speed. Now, if it costed 2000 gold no
matter the stats, who would buy those 160 speed ones? In smithing,
actualy, stats are a matter of luck, and skill. And how often does a
smith makes a 220 speed sabre? I don't think as often as 160 speed one.
And for all those willing to post further, the '160' and '220' numbers
are just examples, and I don't want to hear either of them is impossible
to achieve.
I'm not a rich concoctionist, I've never been and I don't think I'll
ever be. Yes, there are some rich, but they either sit days in forests
harvesting herbs, which is no good, but they do that, or underprice and
try to steal customers from those who try to follow guild rules. As I've
wrote some posts before, I don't like harvesting. It's boring and it
takes quite long to harvest those few plants I truly need. Calling
forestals greedy is childish, saying that forestals just want to earn
more and more gold, is even more childish. Time costs, commodities cost,
everything in the realms cost (maybe except love, not in all cases
though).
There are many things I haven't said and I would want to say, but I also
want to end this neverending bickering and this already too long post.
Message me if you have any questions.
