10.4.9 THE MINISTRY OF DEVELOPMENT
The Ministry of Development is responsible for the growth of the city. They manage the builders, the funds and the needed resources. Anyone who has mastered the arts of woodcrafting and masonry can work with building proposals. Note: Proposals are purchased from Masonry shops. Development Commands: Some of these commands are only available to the ministry, while others are needed for builders. DEVELOP FUNDS - Shows you how much gold the Ministry of Development has, as well as how many of each commodity can be bought (based on availability, the current internal purchase price, and the Ministry of Development's current gold stores). You never need to actually purchase the commodities, it is an automatic process and is done for you when you approve a proposal. CITY PLACE PLOT <direction> - This command will place a new housing plot for the city in the direction indicated. Creating a plot will cost 250,000 gold. A city can only have 20 plots. CITY DEMOLISH PLOT <direction> - This will demolish a plot in the indicated direction. CITY PLACE SHOP <direction> [STOCKROOM <dir>] - This command will place a new shop for the city in the direction indicated. Creating a shop will cost 250,000 gold. The default direction for the stockroom is down. A city can only have 8 shops. CITY DEMOLISH SHOP <direction> - This will demolish a shop and its stockroom in the indicated direction. CITY PLACE BARRACKS - This will place a barracks in your location. Creating a barracks will cost 250,000 gold. 5 guards can guard a barracks, but they are safe from harm in the barracks and will only come out when they are called for. CITY DEMOLISH BARRACKS - This will demolish a barracks in your location. CITY ENHANCEMENT BUILD <enhancement> - This will build a room enhancement into your current location, such as a preservation room. CITY ENHANCEMENT CHOICES - This lists all the enhancements that your city or council can build. CITY ENHANCEMENT LIST - This lists all of the enhancements that have been built in your city. PROPOSAL LIST - This lists all the proposals for buildings that have been made for your city. PROPOSAL <proposal> - Gather detailed information about the proposal before you approve or reject it. PROPOSAL <proposal> BRIEF <description> - Alter the brief description of your proposed room. PROPOSAL <proposal> VERBOSE - This command will take you to the Imperian editor where you can alter the verbose description of your proposal. PROPOSAL <proposal> <indoors|outdoors> - This will set the room to indoors or outdoors. PROPOSAL <proposal> ENVIRONMENT <description> - This will allow you to set the environment of the proposed room. The command ENVIRONMENTS, will give you a full listing of the possibilities. Obviously you will mainly be using urban, but at times other will be needed. ROOMNAME - This command enables the Ministry to check the unique name of a room in order to propose where exits will lead to. PROPOSAL EXIT <dir> TO <roomname> - This command is used by the ministry to propose new room exits. They will automatically be attached upon god approval at the cost of 5000 gold per exit. PROPOSAL <proposal> SUBMIT <city or council> - Submit your proposal to the designated city or council for approval. This must be done in the council chambers of the city. PROPOSAL <proposal> REJECT <description> - Reject a proposal and return it to the maker in a letter. PROPOSAL <proposal> APPROVE - Used by the Ministry to approve a proposal to be built. Once it has been approved by the city and the patron, you will have the proposal mailed back to you, for building. Ministers will want to wait until a god has set the commodities on a proposal before approving it. PROPOSAL <proposal> BUILD <dir> - With the proposal and the required commodities in hand, you will be able to build your room in any of the normal directions.
