This effect also stacks with the level 3 pendant, so you high level people can get some insane attacks!

Since we missed the first Critical Hit Thursday, I've gone ahead and turned that bonus on today, for the first Critical Hit Friday of the month. Don't worry, though, Critical Hit Thursday will be on for the rest of the month.

Enjoy!

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Aequitas, in the year 658 AD.
imperian news Announce 1927Artifact ShieldsANNOUNCE NEWS #1926
Date: 2/2/2012 at 19:06
From: Grael, the Worldsmith
To : Everyone
Subj: Artifact Shields

Because of recent changes made to the function of artifact shields, adjustments have been made to their relative stats, as outlined on HELP DEFENSIVE ARTIFACTS. These new abilities have been added:
Imbue, Regenerate, Travel, Heal, Roots, Lash, Bewilder, Entangle, Entrap, Blank, and Barrier.

Travel and Entangle share the same AB help with the existing tree ability of the same name. Barrier has been moved to Naturalism from Groves, and remains otherwise identical, except that it no longer works inside a grove.

All of these are incompatible with groves - they cannot be activated inside one, and those that provide passive effects are paused while the druid is present in any grove. It can also provide a detailed analysis of any single attack that you get hit with.

The main purpose of the Resists ability is to provide a better overview of which factors contribute most heavily to the damage resistances being as high as they presently are.

Garryn

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Aequitas, in the year 653 AD.
imperian news Announce 1910December PromotionsANNOUNCE NEWS #1909
Date: 12/1/2011 at 0:25
From: Grael, the Worldsmith
To : Everyone
Subj: December Promotions

First off, congratulations to Dermon, Tathys, and Lalaith, winners of the 250, 500, and 1000 Credit prizes in the November Lottery!

Unfortunately, November has passed, so that means no more giftbags. As time has shown, it has caused an almost innate sense of curiosity, particularly in history. We want to archive this history in form of songs. These songs will be available for all of Aetherius to learn and sing -whether you are a Bard or simply a lover of music.

Have you ever wondered what that strangely familiar song you hear on the wind is? Do you long to sing along but have forgotten the words? We are hoping to solve that problem. We are searching for individual songs about each god, songs of the seasons, and songs of the cities. These songs should capture various aspects and perhaps historical facts about each. Once we have these songs, we may branch out to other areas.

The Bards are reaching out to the public to help us accomplish this task. We want accurate songs with some diversity and realize in order to obtain the most pure, unbiased songs we must reach out to those who truly believe in the contents.

Please remember, your songs will be official, documented lore. Khandava had been warned against stopping the spores from getting a taste of the fir and evergreen as it had been cultivated to assist Khandava's transformation.

As Western Celidon saw more and more people come to investigate the forest, they too began infecting other clean forests with little care taken in their hygiene. Within a week of the start from Monarch square, all forests were touched by the spore parasite, causing despair in all mortals.

As the spore took root in the forests, Ithaqua was ill with this green blight as its touch had twisted its dark forest within the council. Buoyed with fear, they rushed forward to find a cure. Seeking knowledge on how the spore functioned, Ithaquans found Kinsarmarians studying the spores deep in the forests. Pooling the knowledge together, they found out the spores also failed in their own defence against those who would seek to harm the forest.

Meanwhile, the Khandavans noted that the extermination in their forests was absolute in stopping the spore spread. Fearing that extermination was due to the spores, a Kinsarmarian Animist thought to rejuvenate the Khandavan forest, which only served to twist the redwood further and benefit the Deadwood Council.

Many fires were started across Aetherius with some mortals hearing whining sounds emanate from hot spores, yet it had little effect on the growth. Quickly did Celidon decry such actions against the very heart of the forest and worked hardest in trying to find a cure that did no harm to the undergrowth. As mortals tried to find a cure, they sought out various knowledgeable guardians within the confines of their cities, and although many tried to help, only the research of Ineli, the academic, has revealed clear that the spores were infested with demonic taint and that only extreme heat could cure Aetherius of this disease.

With renewed vigour, the inhabitants of Ithaqua cleared their council and the surrounding forests, and also spread the news to their allies within the desert city of Antioch. Despite the efforts of some who, ignoring their personal hygiene, began spreading the spores in unaffected areas, the combined efforts quickly cleared forests of this menace. Not satisfied with a cure that involved walking and meticulously examining every tree, the dwellers of Celidon, aided by Rythanis, were able to concoct together an air-borne attack against the spores. As Ithaqua toiled, Celidon added the finishing touches to the smoke that was carried in the air and caused all spores to fall to their deaths, unable to reattach to their host trees.

The damage, however, has already been done. Assaulted by both the spores and the neverending fires, the spirits of the forest have diminished. Greatly weakened, they lost their ability to rally nature against those who would seek to harm it. Likewise, the once proud redwoods of Khandava are now gone for good, replaced by twisted abominations of the Deadwood.

With the spirits of the forests now dormant, will the mortal defenders be able to step up and protect the nature that they have sworn to protect?

Ithaqua sought to prove their worth with a ritual that would strip the infestation out of their twisted dark forest. With ritualists gathered, green-tinged ooze came out of the infected trees and congealed within one of the Idrasi. Seeing the plague leave their dark forest, the Ithaquans quickly shred the Idrasi's body to pieces and burned it, destroying the last remnants of the spores.

With the threat of the spores repealed and its mark lasting for years to come, the present times are proving to be truly desperate indeed. Will the mortal-kind be able to vanquish the next threat?

Penned by my hand on the 8th of Fas, in the year 658 AD.

imperian news Events 153Cannibalism at the Kw'aad Family FarmEVENTS NEWS #152
Date: 10/5/2011 at 1:09
From: Anonymous
To : Everyone
Subj: Cannibalism at the Kw'aad Family Farm

In the month of Vita, in the year 649 AD, a drunken man named Blandus Kw'aad yelled across the streets of Stavenn claiming to have almost been the victim of cannibalism. He spun the tale of his niece Gamila, from whom he had narrowly escaped, and her plot for talking others into using moonshine to lure Blandus from Trevka into the family cellar. There Gamila lies in wait, craving both meals of blood but especially the flesh of dear Uncle Blandus.

Determined to save a man under the protection of the Empire, Kabaal bravely went in search of Gamila. Though kept at the Kw'aad Family Farm at the request of her mother Benigna, Gamila was henceforth commissioned to serve Stavenn and to eat her fill of the bodies brought to her. There was dissention and discussion about whether it was proper to restore it to Ora, and it was decided she should remain where she dwells.

The heart itself was more than it seemed, shifting and expanding into the notorious tarnished flute. After searching and wandering for several restless days, she came across the first signs of a village, only to find the traces of life hidden behind a massive boulder. With a bit of calling and crying for help, this poor kobold was able to call for the help was able to attract the attention of two forest natives. Greggory Shaolar and Krystalia Moonaires arrived seeking all they could from the wearied and panicked oracle. The oracle was able to impart her warning and what little knowledge she had, but, perhaps as a terrible act of foreshadowing, a small army of Demoners charged into the passive party and interrupted the meeting. One vital piece of information lingered however, a warning of armies of darkness soon to come.

Later that month, the inevitable events of the Oracles visions came to pass. All throughout Aetherius a tremor could be felt as a mild quake sent the Byley Plains into a tumultuous situation. The tremors unleashed a mudslide caused by the shaking earth and the harsh winter that had saturated the ground with an abundance of fresh water from the melting snow. While this tremor caused the obvious opening in the earth, it also cracked open a fissure in the caves below.

Investing this trembling, Ivekaesis & Greggory, unable to find the oracle, went to the only place where kobolds currently reside. They managed to locate Kharkhar, the kobold Shaman of the village near the Savannah. It was here, that they first learned that the army to come was a horde of demons, the likes of which had not been seen in the land since before the age of Awakening. Kharkhar was able to give them this little bit of information, and also locate, to his astonishment, the kobold that they spoke of.

After speaking briefly with the Oracle who had taken refuge in the Nogba Wetlands, Greggory along with Eludien, Kerax and Ivekaesis eagerly went to engage the army they knew was now drifting across the plains. After a few quick engagements and a realization of the severity of this threat, many others came to join in the fray including Andun, Iroth, Eamari, Atheriel, Dias, Kaeralyse and Oburi.

After many deaths suffered, the adventurers were able to collect the heads of well over a hundred of these ferocious demons. With a bit of help from the Oracle, they were able to locate the source of the incursion, and after much talk and discussion, a plan was devised to attempt to quickly seal off their gateway. With a bit of ingenuity, the group was able to temporarily seal the demons within the cave, as they prepared for a more elaborate plan to be rid of this hovel of demons forever.

The caves very foundation was weakened with the constant tremors and the violent combat taking place within. With the weakened foundation, the adventurers were forced to halt their efforts for the month and allow the ground to settle as the water evaporated in the early spring weather. It was however reluctantly that they settled with this situation, for many methods were attempted to hasten nature's effects, such as heat generated from crystalism, or removing the very moisture from the air with nature's aid. In the mean time, the Oracle had no home to return to as the caves and her tribe were made inaccessible when the cave was sealed, and with the Oracle's troubles momentarily abated, her curiosity was turned toward the settlement of kobolds. Her tribe had long thought that they were the last of their kind, and the party willingly obliged her as they took her to the kobold settlement in the Savannah. It was both a conversation of interest and intrigue, but the light mood would not last, as talks of relocating the Oracle's tribe to the Savannah were necessary, as not even the Oracle or Shaman knew how the adventurers plans would affect the cave or army. It was with these heavy topics that the talks faded, and the Oracle and Shaman retired to discuss further about their respective tribes.

A month passed rapidly, and with the land settled once again, they were able to resume their expedition into the caves to try and stop the oncoming army. By this point hundreds of demons had risen and now patrolled the Byley plains and the cave below. The Oracle contacted Greggory Shaolar again through the use of Kharkhar's apprentice, Dhark. A letter was sent to relay the message that the time was now, the ground had settled and the moisture had returned to its normal levels. The caves would be able to survive the plans that the eager adventurers had planned. They quickly took to the task and with the coordination of several mages were able to release a cataclysmic event as a dozen globes of elemental fire blasted open the cave once again, and the previously sealed demons that had been gathering in the caves spilled out into Aetherius again.

As the demonic incursion was being quelled, Stavenn began to play its first part in these events as Arvanian, Mishka and Fahrer began to assault the Kinsarmarian forces. This distraction was all that the demons needed, and less than a day later the army began to surge forward into the nearby settlements of Celidon and Kinsarmar. This assault was what it took for a coordinated effort to surge ahead, as it was these attacks that prompted the first unified response from Kinsarmar. The demons that lingered within the caves were quickly vanquished, and the haste of the adventurers almost rushed ahead prematurely as the lives of the kobold tribe were forgotten in their zealous purging of the demonic taint. The adventurers rushed hastily ahead and proceeded to use the same unfocused attack of many timed elemental explosions, but the fissure here was a more permanent cave structure and did not budge.

It was after that initial assault that the kobold Oracle first caught wind that the adventurers may have forgotten her tribe. She quickly pled with the leaders of the Kinsarmarian forces, and reminded them that she needed to evacuate her tribe. With this reminder, the forces rallied quickly to retrieve the Oracle and bring her to her people. They were able to quickly bring her back into the caves, where she was able to climb into the hidden crevices and talk part of her tribe into leaving. However, the numbers were far less than half, and only Kyr'crhx, the Chieftain's son was willing to leave of the notable kobolds in the tribe. While discussions continued and Dias, a Kinsarmarian representative attempted to speak with the tribe's hierarchy, Stavenn attempted another attack on the forces. This attack was quickly stopped as their allies rallied to their aid and the collective force of kobolds helped defend their allies. The Oracle once again was left pleading for more time and a delay despite the cave being open for demons to flood the realm. She was desperately trying to convince more of her tribe to leave the unsafe cave, and Kinsarmar, in their mercy, granted the Oracle this time.

It was some time later that the Oracle finally gave up on her efforts, and lacking appropriate foresight she waited too long to give up on this effort. While she had finally managed to persuade most of her tribe to evacuate the caves, she had waited so long as to allow time for the most ancient demons to rise to the surface of the fissure. She hastily contacted Kinsarmar again, asking for a swift escort from the cave, and offering her warning of the imminent danger.

The force which was gathered consisted of Yahiko, Ruwin, Seraiah, Ivekaesis, Eamari, Greggory, Pellerin, Kerax, Nagato, Ivellios, Mathiaus, Dias, Insinyan, Andun, Iroth, Atheriel, Kaeralyse and Oburi, which moved to evacuate the Oracle and her fellow tribe members to the kobold settlement. The refugees were awaiting the arrival of the forces, and the evacuation went off without much incident. Once the refugees were evacuated, the gathered forces made one last move to prepare and set forth to undertake the ancient demons that were now beginning to rise from the fissure.

The battle was fierce as dozens of the beztyr demons now roamed the paths of the caves and prowled the plains openly. Two ancient demons had managed to rise and while the party slew one without incident, the second weathered the onslaught of adventurers and was able to slay over half a dozen adventurers single-handedly. The party quickly regrouped and armed with more knowledge of their adversary was able to overwhelm the beast. Their preparations were well rehearsed and their supplies ready. After seeing the forces that were prepared to set forth across the land of Aetherius the group acted quickly to ready the bombs and charges it had prepared and worked to place them in strategic points. They worked to harness the weaker points of the fissure, and while the non-concentrated force from the holocaust globes was insufficient with their earlier attempt, this blast was not. The charges were placed well and fused together intricately with a length wick, but no chances were going to be taken when dealing with this problem and further bombs were thrown into the area at a distance to make sure that the bombs all ignited.

The cave began to shake and the whole of the plains rumbled as these charges violently detonated. Hundreds of tons of rubble were sent cascading into the fissure that had allowed the demons to escape. The boulders were not limited to just the fissure however, and rubble from the collapses now lines various parts of the cave.

The adventurers made sure that the caves were clear of demons, and since then, the kobold tribe has scouted the cave, and the forces made sure to clear the caves of remaining. As it stands, the kobolds that remained in the cave are now coming out of hiding and the relocated kobolds are making their way back home forever appreciative of the forces that saved their home, did so much for their people, and will last in their oral histories for many years to come.

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Solis, in the year 633 AD.
imperian news Events 141The Bloodworms of the TempleEVENTS NEWS #140
Date: 2/26/2011 at 0:39
From: Anonymous
To : Everyone
Subj: The Bloodworms of the Temple

A young lamiran maiden began a journey, an expedition that would alter the future of her home and family. The maiden called Osilpe entered Antioch in search of various plants and knowledge. She came upon Seria Vuhuni, Welam Argarwaen, Avaeo Shinpachi and Blyth Shinpachi who spoke with her at length and provided her with the sought after plants. Curious, the group asked why the maiden was upon her journey and what her intentions were. The response was simple, a search of knowledge and herbs to assist in a cleansing. Osilpe asked about their means of taming creatures, and spoke with Kira Ashtear, who proved invaluable in the illustration of how this was done.

The maiden finally revealed herself to reside within the Temple of Reflections, within the depth of the ocean. She explained that her needs concerned the cleansing of an abomination that was virulent there. She was not more forth-coming, but asked that her actions not be revealed to the Queen.

The group grew concerned and decided to seek out the Temple beneath the waves. They were granted an audience with Queen Aluthiel. Surrounded by her myriad handmaidens, the Queen shared a little of the culture of those within the temple. The group of lamirans are a small sect that are dedicated to the worship of one they consider a Goddess, a water-spirit they refer to as Lady Alurosa. The Queen spoke of their culture, one revealed as corrupt and decadent to those who do not practice it. The maiden Osilpe arrived in the midst of this audience, filled with shame that the visitors would see the abomination that was her people.

After a final confrontation with Queen Aluthiel in front of Welam, Kira and Ozreas the maiden began the process of turning the bloodworms against the Temple residents. With herbs and instructing words, the worms consumed the Queen and her Court and began to destroy the temple. However the worms began to multiply and their reach extended beyond the depths of the waters. While not aggressive towards anyone, when slain they seemed to be multiplying. Was the result worth it for the lamiran maiden?

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Halitus, in the year 631 AD.
imperian news Events 140Stirrings in Al'drym WoodsEVENTS NEWS #139
Date: 1/18/2011 at 2:29
From: Anonymous
To : Everyone
Subj: Stirrings in Al'drym Woods

On the 17th day of Naturalis, in the year 628 AD, a crippled elf named Zarenvin hobbled into Celidon announcing that a horrific beast had come into Al'drym Woods. Stumbling upon a small grouping of Kinsarmarians, he began to amiably joke about remodelling the Taproom of the Harp when a nearby Mage guarding the Crossroads demanded Mathyew do something about the terrible soup he'd been given. Slander going back and forth, the crowd at the Crossroads began to grow larger as the argument grew more heated. Finally, a bystander stated that the mage would have to present proof of the claim that he'd found a rock within the soup he'd purchased earlier that month.

After a bit of goading, the Mage produced the offending rock much to Mathyew's dismay. With a great deal of distress, he beseeched Kinsarmar to help him discover why there was a rock within the Oyster soup he was so famous for. After all, he couldn't sell the soup if it was tampered or bad!

Ranai, Ariette, Macie, Pender, Mikihide, Merack and Morissa all followed Mathyew back to the Taproom when much to their dismay, they found Nikki playing with some of the pots and pans behind the counter! Those gathered quickly figured out that Nikki merely wanted to learn how to cook, and had been trying to learn behind Mathyew's back.

Disgruntled, Mathyew began to put the soup to rights as he listened to what Nikki wanted to try. Maksim was the first to come across the drunken pirate and after some small talk learned about a lost treasure in a pirate cave that he wants back. Others soon came to learn about this though some were more skeptical of others thinking it was just intoxicated stories or a plot to empty the city. After some time the group learned the island was near an old shipwreck and decided to venture out to see if the tale could be true. The group of Patek, Ortega and Kalcova were the first to discover Tavares Island and were soon joined and the exploration started to find the booty.

An inhabitant of the island gave them a clue which led them to a suspicious rock wall. After a great many ideas of both calm thoughts of digging to the more extreme of using explosives, Anatolia found the secret to opening the cave and exploring its secrets. The group was faced by a protective pirate though disposed of him very quickly and took the box they had found back to Benbow. Maksim gave the box to him and the pirate was overjoyed to have it returned however the group was less than amused when they learned what was in the box and the old drunk was slain by Patek, unable to enjoy his treasure for very long.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Bellum, in the year 618 AD.

imperian news Events 136The Discovery of Mavitt WoodsEVENTS NEWS #135
Date: 6/1/2010 at 0:55
From: Anonymous
To : Everyone
Subj: The Discovery of Mavitt Woods

Today, a barrage of caribou stormed Khandava. Their plaintive cries were heart-wrenching, each call attempting to lure their calves home.

The calves had not gone to Khandava however, but were lured to a dark wood where a strange gryphon named Mahusala was feeding them to her babies and the juvenile creatures in the area. The air was filled with the sound of craskling energy, bolts of lightning were crossing the sky and hitting people, and the ground was shaking wildly. Puzzled, the adventurers began questioning the scholars around the lands, but nobody had any answers.

A lightning-filled day later, a bright series of lightnings has illuminated the skies, beating repeatedly into the ground in the Aoash hills. Many adventurers hurried to the location as soon as the lightnings subsided, and Aleutia was the first one to discover a small cave uncovered by the strike.

The cave, which still showed signs of having been inhabited many years ago, contained a long inscription carved into the rock, and several smaller carvings on the side. After an initial confusion, the gathered adventurers realized that the strange glyphs are actually an encoded message, and that the smaller carvings are clues.

Several groups of adventurers were working on decrypting the message, and they quickly discovered that the message has been written many centuries ago by one Dakhor Spilae, a scholar from the ancient Caanae. In the message, he claims to have built several powerful obelisks on power nodes that he has discovered on islands surrounding the continent. The obelisks supposedly drew on the power of the Diachaim to provide defensive measures for the city of Caanae.

He then went on to describe how the experiment backfired and the energy started discharging in lightning bolts, eventually leading to a large lightning bolt colliding with the then-whole moon itself. Dakhor's group has managed to disable the obelisks, but he was worried that they could eventually reactivate again. For this reason, he has prepared a way to have the lightning bolts discharge against sources of metallic rock, which then can be used to build power generators used to control the obelisks' power.

The plan was initiated by pushing a stone lever hidden in a chasm west from the Egeria forest. Ristani was the first one to discover the chasm in the Byley plains, and as he pushed the concealed lever, the crackling of energy was replaced by an ominous silence.

Before long, another bright lightning struck the ground in the Byley plains, followed by more strikes in the Ik'taru expanse and the Nogba wetlands. Each strike caused a chunk of the metallic rock to be separated, and the adventurers started pushing them into their home cities and councils.

The first chunks were claimed without much opposition, as the information about the rocks has not spread out yet. The very first rock was discovered by Oburi and pushed to the confines of the Stavenn Empire. Ristani found the second rock, delivering it into the city of Kinsarmar, while Dias delivered the third rock into the desert city of Antioch.

At that point, however, the adventurers realized that allowing their enemies free access to the mysterious rocks may not be in their best interests, and many of the subsequent rocks were only obtained at the cost of much bloodshed.

The desert city of Antioch had a significant advantage in numbers, and managed to seize most of the rocks for themselves. Despite an uneasy alliance that has formed between the users of pure magick and demonick magick, the city of Antioch has obtained the necessary number of rocks and the Minister of War, Guardas, ordered building of a generator. After the generator was completed, Ozreas and Anatolia led the assault against the Obelisk of Sukhder, successfully bringing it under Antioch's control.

The forest council of Khandava was the second one to collect the necessary metallic rocks and the construction of a generator has been initiated by Sanai, who has also led an assault against the Obelisk of Aryana.

As the situation stands now, the Empire of Stavenn and the Celidon Council have also completed their generators and seized an obelisk for themselves, while the city of Kinsarmar and the council of Ithaqua are busy finishing generators of their own. And as each of the factions seeks to usurp as much power as it possibly can, the conflict between them threatens to flare with renewed intensity.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Fas, in the year 608 AD.
imperian news Events 134
